COCKROACH +++

July 23, 2024, Vilnius

The “Legendos klubas” held a reading of “Cockroach+++” based on the script by Vasily Zorky. Thanks to you, we raised 7,726 euros (from ticket and merchandise sales)! All this money was used to purchase 270 food packages weighing 2,700 kg for the residents of Ukraine. We thank our wonderful artists - Chulpan Khamatova, Liza Gyrdymova (Monetochka), Shamil Khamatov, Volodymyr Gorislavets, pianist Arina Volkova, scriptwriter and director Vasily Zorky for creating a special atmosphere for the performance. “Cockroach+++” is a compilation of works by Soviet “children’s” authors who at various times had problems with censorship and were also subjected to repression by the authorities. Harms, Chukovsky, Oleynikov, Zabolotsky and other authors — we have known them all since childhood. The production reveals the stories of the works from a new side — in addition to the poems themselves, the audience learns about the indignation of labor collectives, denunciations, criminal cases and other facts that formed the context in which famous authors worked. These poems sound amazingly relevant right now, when poets are constantly under pressure from the state — they are banned, labeled and imprisoned. And this means that every word resonates with the viewer. We thank all our viewers for buying tickets and coming to the reading, for your responses, reactions and emotions, for constructive criticism, and, of course, for your donations!!! It is wonderful that there are so many caring people ready to help those who are in a difficult, sometimes critical situation! Thanks to photographer Ruslan Terekhov, cameraman Alexey Yakovlev.

Результат превзошел ожидания: получился настоящий спектакль, в котором объединены стихи Корнея Чуковского, Николая Заболоцкого, Даниила Хармса, Николая Олейникова — авторов, активно писавших около ста лет назад для детей, стихи которых проходили жесткую цензуру.” - пишет “Новая газета. Балтия”. Мы благодарим всех, кто принял участие в работе над читкой! Спасибо за классные фото и видео - Руслану Терехову/SOTA , команде канала “И Грянул Грэм”.

NATHAN

September 16, 2023, Vienna

The Vienna theater Wiener Urania successfully hosted a charity theatrical reading of chapters from the new novel by Artur Solomonov "Nathan" performed by Anatoly Bely. Director of the reading: Tatyana Marek. From the author's preface to the book: "It is worth warning about the laws (or even lawlessness) of this text: it is completely permeated with absurdity. When the two main characters, Nathan and the talking raccoon Tugrik, created parties, declared wars, became nationalists, globalists, militarists, pacifists - in a word, went through all the political and social temptations - this was such a captivating flow of the grotesque and absurd that I was no longer embarrassed by how far I had stepped over the boundaries of reality and wandered into the realm of the fantastic. And then life crossed this line - at least Russian life - and completely went into the realm of bloody absurdity and dark fantasy." This reading was a continuation of a series of charity events raising money for humanitarian aid for Ukraine. This time, they managed to raise 5,526 euros, which were used to buy food for families from the regions of Ukraine most affected by the war - Kherson and Kharkiv. Partners of the event: Cooperation for Democracy Foundation and Russians Against War Vienna.

September 9, 2023, Barcelona

A theatrical charity reading of Arthur Solomonov's tragicomedy "How We Buried Joseph Vissarionovich" took place at Catolic De Sants. Professional actors, as well as journalists and public figures who oppose the war, took part in the reading: Alexander FEKLISTOV, Tatyana LAZAREVA, Evgeny KISELEV, Arseny KOVALSKY, Paula GAPO, Alexey YUDNIKOV, Andrey USHATINSKY, Bogdan KOVYAZIN. The uniqueness of the event is that each reading takes place only once. Such a group of participants will not be gathered in Barcelona or any other city or country. The tragicomedy "How We Buried Joseph Vissarionovich" allows us to trace the paths by which Stalinism grows in the soul of a modern person. Answering such a question, it is impossible to remain exclusively in the zone of seriousness. Therefore, the tragicomedy is not only relevant and creepy, but also very funny. The tragicomedy has been translated into eight languages, published and staged in different cities and countries. All proceeds went to buying food, which was also sent to families in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.

The reading of Artur Solomonov's novel "Nathan" took place in the Museum of the Jewish People of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Anatoly Bely presented a satirical novel about the adventures of Nathan Eipelbaum and his friend, the talking raccoon Tugrik. Anatoly Bely: "One person reads - many listen. The actor conveys the thoughts and emotions of the work to the viewer in the shortest way by reading. Today, this is more relevant than ever. Time has compressed, the spring is white-hot, you need to have time to say everything that boils inside before the final explosion. I am glad that with this reading we are helping long-suffering Ukraine. We, former citizens of Russia, are responsible for what is happening today, this is our feasible and necessary contribution to the future." The proceeds in the amount of 1825 euros were used to purchase humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

HOW WE BURIED STALIN

March 24, 2023, Riga

The first reading of the tragicomedy by Artur Solomonov "How We Buried Joseph Vissarionovich" was held in the Riga Jewish Community House as part of the project. Starring Alexander Filippenko. Professional actors, as well as journalists and public figures who oppose the war, took part in the reading: Anton Dolin, Kirill Nabutov, Anna Mongait, Shamil Khamatov, Tatyana Lukashenkova, Anatoly Fechin, Maxim Terletsky. The tragicomedy "How We Buried Joseph Vissarionovich" allows us to trace the paths by which Stalinism grows in the soul of a modern person. When answering such a question, it is impossible to remain exclusively in the zone of seriousness. Therefore, the tragicomedy is not only relevant and creepy, but also very funny. The plot: a large Russian theater decides to stage a bold play about Stalin. The roles have been assigned, the scenery has been set up, and a pre-premiere screening for the media has been scheduled. But it so happened that the Russian president was an invisible spectator of the performance. Through his assistant, he declares: "It's interesting to see how they are going to show my predecessor." The president did not like what he saw, and the theater troupe began to painfully rework the performance to please the rulers of the past and present. All proceeds from the reading - 11,195 euros - went to help Ukraine: almost four tons of food were sent to families in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.
